Miners are like accountants that verify the transactions. And as accurately pointed out blockchain does eliminate the need for middlemen not only this it also solves the double spending problem. The fact with blockchain is that the original file is used and not a copy which because currently our internet works on those principles so when you download a file it is a copy and never the original.
