I really don't want to turn these into an economics class but the both definition of what investments are clearly should settle the argument of whether BTC is truly an investment or not.
I think you're right, at the moment. We shouldn't forget that the main goal of bitcoin anyway is another one, it's supposed to change to way we think about what money is forever, so it's much deeper than an investment. But this is, hopefully, the future, at the moment it's just speculation.
