Imo I wish we would have ditched segwit. It's completely unnecessary for Riecoin. But we're already almost complete with 16.3 so it is what it is.  

For fun, I am working on a Bitcoin Unlimited fork of riecoin with no segwit, it will take some time as i'm not very experienced with c++  so don't expect release anytime soon (or ever) but if you see it on the testnet you'll know. we'll see how it goes.
