The problem seems to be caused by the constant bumping of threads by spammers.

Would a board that only allowed closed threads to be posted solve the problem? The post could contain a link to an active thread on the spammers' board, and, because of the link, it wouldn't really matter if it dropped to page 5.

The other alternative would be to use a line in your signature to provide that link.
