I have found the best way for people new to blockchain to learn blockchain basics is to show them illustrations that represent what is being explained.  There are a lot of great YouTube videos out there with great animation that make understanding the basics of blockchain very simple.

A video like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSo_EIwHSd4 does a lot to help those who have no idea what blockchain is and does a great job explaining things in a way that is relatively easy to understand.
