I just updated the bootstrap.dat file on the website http://opal-coin.com you can download the blockchain up to yesterday and then sync the rest.

Note: I think I found a bug in the wallet. There might be an issue with it detecting your external IP, the services that use it is down. If you think your wallet has this issue just put externalip= ... and replace it with your external IP address.
