Bitcoin was the project that slapped everybody behind the head and said 'this is what money should be'. It was all good until it got bigger. Mining became centralized, we found out that fungibility was of the utmost importance and its community split due to the original vision was 'lost' (kinda). Monero could slap us all in the back of the head once again and say 'this is what money should be'. IMHO.
