This year, 2018, the price of bitcoin has been consistently playing around $6000-$7000, but it is expected to rise by the end of the year.
First, the price isn't around the 6k-7k, it's been fluctuating around the 6k-6.5-k for the past month with a small increase to 7k which didn't last too long before it went back down. Second, why is the price expected to go up at the end of the year? because it did so last year? That doesn't mean the price is supposed to surge again.

Last year there was a lot of hype and dumb money surrounding the market, this year we lack both so there's no real catalyst in the short-term that could trigger a massive btc rally.

It is almost the end of the year. If the price did not move up by the end of the year, how much do you think and/or hope the price of bitcoin to change next year? Can we expect a huge bump or do we have to prepare ourselves for an even lower dip? What do you think?
We should lower our expectations and just be patient. The price will eventually go up, but as of now, it is very unlikely that we'll see a massive surge in the price towards the end of the year. Perhaps if the bulls trigger a btc rally, then we might test the 8k or 9k levels, but that's as high as I think the price will increase since we'll probably encounter a lot of resistance around those levels.
