There seem to be a few methods for abbreviating a quote. The symbols for replacing the whole quote I've seen used are  ~ or ~~, <..>, and my personal favourite - the meow >..<  Alternatives for abbreviated posts are snip or , and the typesetters continuation mark /..

We know that the OP revisited the thread, but I wonder how many of the posters that I merited have checked back.
