On November 6, 2018, developers of the VNS&XMC project from the AMT community found an abnormality on the Gate.io website and immediately sent feedback to ESET and Gate.io. ESET researchers have found that the JavaScript used by the StatCounter analysis platform has been modified by attackers to embed it in the price currency exchange's Gate.io page. Gate.io quickly scanned and scanned 56 anti-virus software via Virustotal, reporting any issues and suspicious code.
In order to protect the platform user assets and secure the platform, Gate.io immediately responded by deleting the statistical function of StatCounte. No other abnormal behavior has been found so far.
To avoid unnecessary risks, Gate.io will stop using StatCounter's services indefinitely. Gate.io expressed his heartfelt thanks to the VNS&XMC team's developers for discovering and reporting their risks in a timely manner, and explained them in their announcement.
