I am very new to all the Bitcoin and altcoin talk and do like reading all about it..from where it all started
It started in 2009, satoshi invented bitcoin, then low-class programmers started to copy-paste it naming it differently. Thats how alt-coins were "invented".
I would recommend all andreas antonopolous videos about bitcoin in youtube.
I would recommend good bitcoin documentaries, fun and easy way to learn basics.
