Gravity is a theory, the force pushing you down is caused by the atmosphere you've displaced.

So why is the atmosphere pushing you down?

Because of the law of gravity.  (so easy)

When was the last time you/anyone did something where the law did not work as required?

Watch to the end - gravity pulls it down as it always does.

Now you'll ask why the bottom hovers before falling.  Same reason your car rides smooth on a bumpy road - tension.

When the energy in the slinky tension is exhausted, gravity wins.  Gravity always wins.
