Bitcoin was intended to be a p2p, cutting out the middle man, yet we treat it like a stock.
How else to aptly explain what Bitcoin is. 
But how important too that the activities of the 'greedy ' Wall street guys have made the acceptance and awareness of bitcoin faster. But for the commercialization of bitcoin, it will take ages for people to come to know of this magnificent technology.
