Yes, if you device has fingerprint scanner, it can be used as extra layer of protection.
I personally don't like to use fingerprint.There are any dangers and potential issues when you use fingerprint as a protection.
I don't see any danger in using a fingerprint as additional layer of protection, why would that be dangerous?
For example someone points a gun at your head in the street and tells you to put a finger so he can unlock your phone
