The simple answers is 'nothing'.  Absolutely nothing gives me confidence that things would be different next year.  Although there really is no reason why things can't recover, if the big boys would stop playing games and controlling the market.  More importantly though, like with anything in life, do not gamble/invest what you can't afford to lose.  Upon investment, your money is as good as gone, if you make a decent return then lucky you but it can also go the opposite, which is what has happened to many this year.
