Yes, receiving merits feels great like you have cured cancer, it makes you feel like you give a huge contribution to the bitcointalk community. 
I agree, but I think it shouldn't be like that.I mean, receiving merit should be something common for any member that contributes to the forum. It has been implemented mainly to fight against spam, so imo it shouldn't be so hard for the non-spammers to rank up.
But anyway, we don't decide of anything, we're not admins, so these posts are pretty useless...
