I had the exact same issue earlier last week (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=38543.0) and, long story short, there's no easy way to test your PSU without going out and buying a testing tool.  It's probably easiest to just go out and buy a cheap 500W unit to replace your old one.  It was mentioned that the Corsair CX series is pretty good for the money
