If a national currency takes blockchain features, it becomes easily traceable. It will not be that beneficial for government - it will reduce their level of freedom in the context of economy control.
As for the benefits for common people, I actually don`t see any - anonymity and decentralization, as main blockchain traits, will not be present in national cryptocurrency.
