You should always have a backup pool configured, regardless of where you mine 
But yes, presently we have a couple of stratum servers, all balanced through stratum-us.. stratum-eu balances as well to the actual stratum servers, but serves more as a proxy for those in Europe.. I use stratum-eu as my backup.

So, instead of having 2 stratum servers exposed directly we have 2 load balances redirecting to a couple of stratum servers? Sounds good
