I'm sure few Electrum developer/contributor run Eletrum server, but there won't be any "Official Electrum Server". While it sounds good, it give fake sense of security to users because they would think the server always act honestly, while there's small chance the one who manage the server become hostile or the server is hacked.
Additionally that would mean lots of users connect to same server which mean developer need lots of money just to run the server (while Electrum is completely free) and there's no point of connecting to another server.
