I am aware that I will not be successful trying to mine against people mining via their GPU so will definitely only mine for coins that CPU mine only
I already have most parts, I only need a motherboard. Is it worth ago mining CPU only scrypt coins then?

I've been mining some Quark on a few spare systems for giggles. The returns haven't been massive, but they've given me a little capital to play with the the exchanges. The other systems that I use have some (slightly) older ATI cards which are happily scrypt mining. Their profitability is better than Quark overall, but I'll take something for nothing any day.
