Its sad to see the scarcity of candidates on this thread to @Pmaleks initiative, plus the proven inadequacy of some of those postulants. You cant really put it any easier than on this thread.
This kind of proves by example (therefore not an empirical rule though) that the amount of Newbie accounts that are willing to place a bit of real effort into earning a single merit is scarce in comparison to the number of Newbie accounts. Likely, those that are decent posters enough do not have too much trouble getting merit themselves on their usual posting routes.

I happened to bump into this thread just through casual browsing. I still enjoy lurking in the newbie area to see what new ideas and tips I can learn.
I obviously don't qualify for the merit generosity of @Pmalek, but found this to be quite an interesting thread to read! I have to agree with @DdmrDdmr. I reached the Jr. Member rank simply by looking for places to say things that were relevant to me and by remaining patient.
If nothing else, I think that this thread (and some of the merit begging that followed as a result) only reinforces that final italicized comment above. But when Newbie level merit worthy posts do get buried, it is nice that they have a chance to get noticed and recognized through a thread like this one.
I will be bookmarking this one to check back later and see who demonstrated themselves worthy and who outed themselves as plagiarist beggars!
