That's dependent on the space of time you are considering, the price was very volatile in 2017, rising quickly in the last quarter of the year and reaching a new all time high.
2018 was a relatively stable year, for a normally volatile market.

And I don't know how you can call 2018 a "relatively stable year". It's a downward trend of epic proportions. We did see the price stabilizes around the $6K-$6500 mark (3-4 months). But it went on a spiral and even bottom at $3200.
