The amount of merit earned by a user(prior to a particular post)doesn't determine the amount that such user should earn afterwards as merits is and should not be given based on the number of merits earned prior to the particular post.
This is a somewhat iconic thread posted by the forums administrator and it ushered in a new era in the forum,the reason why it was deemed fit to deserve that astronomical and meteoric amount of merits.
