As much as I love crypto I would never see it as safe as it stands now. I would own bitcoin & ethereum but I think those are the only Safe ones and only a fairly small amount compared to my overall assets. Hopefully this all changes in the near future.
The bitcoin does provide a certain amount of safety to it's investors compared to some really volatile alts with no value whatsoever,but that doesn't also reduce the risk involved in investing in the bitcoin.
It's not possible to forecast what's going to happen in 2019,and the OP should know that,we can only invest wisely and diversify our income,so if coin x fails we'll be able to fall back on coin y
