Yes we did in our region online games are popularized because of betting..some computer shop owners like me are organizing competitions for their active and good players in every chosen games like Dota and League of Legends and now theres a new one called Rules of Survival in which every participants must provide same amount as each others and if all bets are collected then the teams will be created and the fight will start,the best team will bring the Prize
Another one is Mobile Legends in which we as friends in our free time or even my office mate plays this with Pot for the best players

That's a good practice for competitions especially when there is an outstanding player. I have seen much local competition in my place, but there are known players that stand out.
