Hey Mac Friends! I had this problem too, I'm not sure if by luck/chance it worked... however, this is what i did.

Download Mac client from vertcoin site, in your downloads see Vertcoin.QT.DMG
Simply open that, and when it tells you to 'drag to applications folder' - DON'T, just double click and run it. That worked for me - just move it into your apps folder after, or keep in dock
