I do agree that they need to do something about this. but they fought well in NZ's tour in pieces (Test-ODI) before losing. the more disappointing result was against England at their own home soil.
They need to improve their domestic cricket. its one of the worst when compared with other teams. they are not producing good player because of this and financial condition of Board not helping at all.
I remember the Sri Lanka in 1996 and later few years. In the world cup Arjuna Ranatunga was their captain. He was such a cool guy with his team. I never seen him to feel pressure in any situation. Always he found a way to win.
