Thanks to all for the great feedback and ideas.
This evening I will eventually come around to add the pure logo without the coin design. I would create two versions, one with the longer "E" and one with the shorter one as it was proposed by hydkyll.

No worries. I specifically made a flat design as it was desired by most people. Personally I also like things a bit more flashy.
I am not a designer by any means but I have learnt quickly now that it is impossible to make everybody 100% happy.
