In my case, I trust my family with my private key and also thought them how to use it to recover my cryptocurrencies in case bad things happened to me. But if you don't want trust anyone and can afford to have a safe deposit box or own safe vault, then you can make a copy of your private key and list the steps on how to recover your coins, in case no one in your family knows how to use it, then put it on your safe deposit box.
