For bitcointalk.org's 10th anniversary later this year, I was thinking that it might be cool to produce a limited run of 50-300 coins and give them out (maybe all-expenses-paid or maybe at cost) to users who meet some to-be-determined criteria. I'm not a collector, though, so I'm not knowledgeable about this stuff.
 - Does this sound like a good idea?
 - What features would make the coin especially interesting?
 - What's the best way to get a coin like this made?

 I like this idea.

 A lot.

Making it limited, to a group of people you deem "worthy", is a good way to go - in terms of "features".

Holography of any sort will just take whatever offering you make an 11/10.

You have a very good finger on the pulse of the community - To wit: You are likely the only person - second only to my partner - that know my IRL identity.  I'm hesitantly and nervously "OK" with that.

I can't speak towards methods for realizing this project, but know that I ultimately support your efforts with this goal.

EDIT: It should go without saying it be a minted on a SOV metal.
EDIT2: Packaging of the final product, intended for the ultimate recipient, should have some obvious, OpSec-Breaking printed material on the protective coin-packaging, to ensure future "value" and prevent selling on the secondary markets - Should they want to maintain "Mint Condition". Breaking the seal and removing the protective Op-Sec packaging should reduce value of the coin.
