Is it just a trading commodity, long term investment or is it (very very very) slowly replacing fiat. I know there are many companies and small shops that accept cryptocurrency but is that it? Is the problem still about the speed of a transaction

Well those companies that you had known, maybe they're still the company that accepts Bitcoin. It doesn't change fiat, don't expect it to happen. It will be a large adjustments throughout the world before that can even be possible, try to think of those rural or those places that barely touches technologies.
It is still as it is to be honest. Still both alternative currency and a trading commodity for other coins. Your 3-years might still be somehow be the same as this present, but not exactly the same. Price-wise is obviously different, but utility-wise, there's a bit of changes.
