Blockchain projects are a cross-cutting theme of different field within the life of a city. Identity, visa processing, land registry, healthcare those are just a few industries which are powered by the blockchain in Dubai. With its intentions, Dubai is similar to New York City and Singapore.
Dubai was already catching the trend a couple of years ago, when in February 2016 the government announced the launch of the Global Blockchain Council. Among the members of the Council are government entities, financial institutions and leading technology companies , e.g. IBM.
To this day IBM has become a lead strategic partner for Smart Dubai Office, a city-wide initiative that develops blockchain services for the city. The blockchain innovations are rapidly growing in the city and different companies support blockchain specialists and their ideas. Numerous collaborations are also taking place: bothe amongst organizations are government entities.
The most vivid examples of blockchain enables networks in Dubai are the Department of Economic Development that digitized the process of issuing business licenses and exchanging commerce information between government entities, free zones and private sector ecosystem.
