If I keep on being active and comments good stuff on posts will I ever get member status. it seems like its been forever and nothing. 
You do not need to oblige yourself to be active on every thread and just leaving comments without providing a thought/impactful idea. Just post on topics that you know and leave something that bear value.
It is better if you oblige yourself to read more as it will provide you the answers that people may ask in the future and may consider yours as a quality post and might receive merit for it giving you a chance to rank up.
