I saw there are some Paypal-like crypto payment services around (e.g. something like https://www.wispay.io). Do you think it's a good idea, given the current market?

I'd imagine if you are a receiver, such tools can be useful.
But as a sender, would you pay with your cryptos?

For myself, I'd like to get rid of some of my shitcoins while they still have some value, but I'd still like to hold my BTC
Just do spend-and-replace. You hint merchants that bitcoin use is profitable for them and you don't lose any of your BTC. It's win-win. Just hodl-ing makes us lose adoption.

Hodl-ing won't make us lose adoption. I think that even while there are numerous hodlers, adoption is still bound to happen. It's already on the course towards it. It's hard to spend-and-replace due to the volatility of the coin. Plus you would want to maximize the profit but hodling as long as possible, so spending and replacing it kind of defeats the purpose unless you're pretty into short trading.
