Of course one is playing for the money in the end. If you don't want to win why you play in the first place?

There has to be a winning drive to play.
I think if we know certainly that we would lose, we would go ahead to play that gambling! The mind and desires to win is what drives us into gambling. No one will wish to throw away money because he see gambling as fun but we have the drive to make it and that is the reason we gamble.
