I've heard from others that casinos provide free drinks to some of their players and not faucets cmiiw. Also gambling the tips that the driver received isn't a smart idea he could win but it's better if he saved them because there are better things to spend money on other than gambling (just my opinion).

It should be better if he save those money for daily expenses.
However, that driver wanted to take risks.
That way, he made smart approach to take risks, I think.
At least, he won't lose his own money for any cases. Lose or win, he won't lose his money, won't have to take his money out of his pocket.
