Bottom left hand corner of the screen there's the option to switch it off. Please feel free to do so.
If my CPU cycles are my property, then this is sort of like stealing french fries off my plate over and over again until I slap your hand away. Kinda scummy, IMO. Bitcoin should be striving for legitimacy, but everyone seems to like playing in the gutter instead.
