I believe that 2017 bull would have undermined most research because it was highly underestimated that bitcoin will get to that price range and because it is decentralized, nobody thought it was pumped. This is why people rode on the price increase and never believed it will crash hard that way. Myself, I still wouldn't believe if someone predicted to me that price will fall as far as it fell.
