As a small recap of our challenge this week at the Odyssey hackathon!;

The current process of identification is inconsistent and confusing for airline passengers.

The alternative to work with a fixed hardware solution and a centralized database as tested at Aruba Airport (Happy Flow) is both costly and hazardous in terms of data storage.

The innovatie company KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines) believes the solution should come from self-enrollment and data storage on your mobile device while sharing this data for validation and access purposes via a GDPR compliant decentralized blockchain solution.

With this solution, KLM and its partners want to deliver a smooth, hygienic, hands-free experience for its travellers as well as a cost saving, safe and efficient way of managing the ever growing passenger flows.

This creates the following challenge for Smilo:
- How to communicate biometric data safely in a multi-stakeholder setting?

With subjects as how to;
- Securely store biometric data on a smartphone
- Securely distribute biometric data to a (blockchain) platform
- Securely process biometric data on a blockchain
