"Convert" (the noun) means someone who has come to believe in something. I think there is no reason to be worried about 'con' in the negative sense for a coin that is clearly not a scam.
Have you ever talked to random people outside of your circle about it? If anything people think crypto is a get-rich quick scam. I have even heard the term "pyramid scheme" from several highly educated people.
I'm thinking Convert in this sense applies to people who converted to Vertcoin from other alts because they like Vert's advantages and the fact that its not a scamcoin or promoted by well known scammers. From other alts and Bitcoin itself is where most of the next wave of early adopters are going to going to come from, so it fits the message. People outside crypto are not going to be aware of VertCoin for a long time. Whatever, I like the name because it's catchy and doesn't take itself too seriously. Don't be so defensive about the whole "pyramid scheme" BS that applies to all crypto as a whole. Really, people who are thinking crypto is a scam are going to think it's a scam no matter what words we use so we might as well use ones that are fun. They'll come around eventually. And become Converts!
