In his own reddit AskMeEverything page, https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/80ow6w/im_bill_gates_cochair_of_the_bill_melinda_gates/

He answers about cryptocurrency stating
“The main feature of crypto currencies is their anonymity. I don't think this is a good thing. The Government’s ability to find money laundering and tax evasion and terrorist funding is a good thing. Right now crypto currencies are used for buying fentanyl and other drugs so it is a rare technology that has caused deaths in a fairly direct way. I think the speculative wave around ICOs and crypto currencies is super risky for those who go long.”

He isn't wrong in his sense, if the cryptocurrency is to have a future, they should be able to create an environment of trust between themselves and the authorities.

It seems to me that Bill Gates should start believing that the achievements of other people he bought them to patent his brand, this is something that has no impact on the Crypto world, as he is not a Bitcoin investor, and I think he lacks much criterion, because although bitcoin and the altcoins do not have any support or liquidity, they present a high degree of market capitalization, also a high participation of the speculative market, where a lot of money is moved 24h, where companies, people are making transactions with bitcoins

It seems strange to me that a person who is a precursor of technology says something like that, maybe he has not been able to buy all the blockchain miners, and I think it will be impossible for him to have the blockchain control, so I think it's easiest for He is criticizing and making bad publicity, it is the weapon of people like him.
