I think the whole mystery surrounding satoshi actually helps the bitcoin scene tbh. A bit of speculation and conspiracy theories bring attention to it and actually help.

In reality, I think satoshi doesn't want to be known because if bitcoin actually smashed the traditional financial system he could become a big target for people with power who don't want that to happen.
