I don't think ICOs are gone totally. You are right that most of them are scams but not all. There are still some that are worth investing but they are very rare. You have to be very careful in choosing the ICO. Also invest only an amount that you can afford to lose. Besides, its not compulsory, its your decision whether to support an ICO or not.
I also still believe that there are a handful of ICOs that are really good, but only now the ICO has been poisoned by a scammer and it is very worrying so that for now I am not investing in the ICO but I am still monitoring the ICO and if there is an ICO that I think is good then I will invest in it.
