Is it a good idea in your opinion for me to wait for ethereum price to increase so I can sell it and move the money to more alt coins or should I just move the current amount of ethereum to other altcoins right now? 
I will said selling ethereum for other altcoins now is not advisable because ethereum is currently performing better than all of them now. I will not sell something that is developed and makes names to something that is still underdeveloped. The only altcoins that I think may do better in future are litecoin and binance coins. of course, it's much better. diversify will make your investment and your trade much safer and profitable
Yes, many people are failing because they cannot diversify their investment to other coins because mostly they will hold the coin in their favourite ones only. Day trader won't bother much about their holding he looks out the money he made through profit at the end of the day.
