What are your thoughts on this concept? Will this make crypto less intimidating?
For now it seems to simply make it more complicated.
There's a discussion in Ivory Tower on this subject, but afaik it's restricted to Members+.
Basically the name is safeguarded by a blockchain and it's mapped to a Bitcoin wallet address. A distributed name server.
The problem is that it's not a proper DNS and only a certain wallet (Moonlet wallet) recognizes this kind of addresses, wallet I've never seen.
Although the solution is a bit more reliable than a centralized name server (solution which I've seen in the past working, but solution that can be easily used for bad), since it's a new coin, 51% attacks are possible. And the fact it only works with a wallet nobody heard of makes it unappealing. If they could convince Electrum dev to handle this kind of addresses, it could become interesting though.
