also alles schön und gut aber es wird wohl überhaupt nichts bringen, jetzt darüber zu schreiben... die bannwelle ist am rollen und wir können nichts und gar nichts machen. auch weil posts, die jahre zurückliegen, den grund für einen ban hergeben. es wird nichts bringen, jetzt alle regeln nochmal durchzugehen... wenn wir vor 3-4 jahren etwas kopiert haben, können wir diesen nicht mehr ändern... das einzige, was wir tun können, ist abwarten, wann es dann uns betrifft.
also wenn ich die nächsten tage mal gebannt bin, machts schon mal gut:) ich überlege dann jetzt schon mal einen schönen nick, mit dem ich mich hier neu registrieren werde...
Das ist mir zu Duckmäuserich, man kann nie "nichts machen", auch wenn hier diktatorische Züge durchschwingen, sitzen da am anderen Ende auch nur Menschen.
Der Ablauf ist wohl so:
- ein Bot meldet alle Plagiatsverdachts-Fälle
- die Mods entscheiden
Could anyone explain what's going on here or give a link? I rarely visit Meta so what is this huge massacre about and who is behind it? Have copypasters finally got their due?

Everything is more or less explained in a few first posts, you just need to start reading from the beginning. In short, somebody is start reporting a lot of users, and considering number of reported / banned accounts he / she is probably using a bot for detecting plagiarism.
Somone's been very busy reporting copy and pasters.
Yeah someone was working on a tool like this one, I know who but I will not post the name maybe he/she wants to stay anonymous anyway
The person who is reporting them should probably just be made a mod and I've suggested so in the past. Seems silly us having to verify them and handle them all. It's quite time consuming.
But why now
Why not? There isn't any specific reason to "why now"; There was way too much plagiarism content, so someone decided to create a bot... and that's it.
and why so many?
Because it is a bot after all. It is probably checking old posts, and possible every new post created. Checking that many posts and reporting them is inhuman so a bot can handle it pretty well.
Did they develop an automatic tool to check members' posts en masse, then moderators check suspicious posts manually and give out bans as required? Are there any false reports? In short, how does it work?
A bot reports, the mods check, if it's plagiarism = ban. Easy.
Moderators cant ban Users , only Global Mods and admins as far i know !
Patrollers (at one point, the majority of mods were
patrollers -- moderators of newbies) can ban
Brand New and
Newbie accounts.
Regular mods can ban Newbies if they haven't been whitelisted by another mod, don't have Copper membership (IIRC), and have less than 150 posts or less than 30 posts if they have earned at least 1 merit.
Mal mindestens eine Beweisführung zu verlangen, sollte schon drin sein. Wenn also jmd. morgens feststellt, dass er vor x Jahren einen Fehler gemacht hat, sollte er zumindest die Chance erhalten, das zu erfahren, ich bin mir sicher, da gibt es auch Fehlentscheidungen, die zu erklären/belegen sind.
