This claim is as old as Satoshi Nakamoto! I have been hearing this since I added cryptos in my life. It literally never made sense to me through, until recently!
I was shocked to see Craig Wright awarded copyright to the bitcoin whitepaper and the code and now I somewhat believe that bitcoin is indeed created by NSA which conspiracy theorists are talking since day one! May be, we all are part of a big plan which is yet to be unfolded but everything is really dicey now!
Also the article says,
Soon after these stories were published, authorities in Australia raided the home of Mr Wright. The Australian Taxation Office said the raid was linked to a long-running investigation into tax payments rather than Bitcoin.
Everything is very confusing now! No one know who owns what or who is Satoshi Nakamoto. It's the biggest mystery of this decade!
NSA wrote a paper on digital currency in 1996

As many of you know NSA is also behind SHA-256 which Bitcoin uses

And after Craig was awarded the copyright of bitcoin whitepaper by an US court, these have started to take shape towards a different way altogether. I am sure a lot more drama is waiting to be unfolded in near future and we haven't yet seen the bottom.
If it's finally proved that bitcoin was created by NSA, majority of the other governments will try to shut it down in their own country and implement punitive measures against the users. That's what I am worried about!
