Because first thing, it's on the trend and they can't miss this opportunity to ride the hype and trend because it will generate more profit to them. AFAIR, eoy of 2017 Mark Zuckerberg already said that he's studying and looking into crypto and blockchain.
And I think it was planned well by him, took some issues and actions that will make them take the advantage for their platform, turned the tables after banning it into liking and allowing crypto ads again.
