Gambling shouldn't be seen as an investment, it is not investment, gaming is something totally different from investment. Difference between investment and gambling is that when it comes to investment you're putting your money and expecting a certain amount of profit in return. But in gambling you're not sure about any particular profit, you're just relying on luck and hoping that you're going to win something. So the both of them are not the same.
